Truthfully, John should be known as a sales writer, rather than a copywriter. Though he comes from a direct sales background, he has enjoyed a successful career in both writing and selling. His father, once a speechwriter for Gerald Ford, advised him, "Learn to write well." And he did.
John studied Broadcasting at Arizona State's top-ranked Walter Cronkite School. While there he began publishing his writing. He worked his way through school selling books door-to-door. During the summers he received an invaluable education in direct sales while working 75 hours per week in Texas and California.
While in the financial industry, John was the second employee of a software start-up.
Pretending to play in the backyard. But actually dreaming up sales and marketing concepts to maximize ROI!
The company sold an equity trading platform to NASD broker-dealers. John oversaw both the 8-person programming group and the 5-person salesforce.
Next, John took control of the institutional sales group for an NASD broker-dealer. As SVP, he opened block trading accounts with mutual fund managers and hedge fund principals.
Recently, John returned to California to pursue tech copywriting full-time. But his entire career has been a mission to create dynamic, innovative solutions for his employers and clients.
